Section: Targeting MRSA and SSI
Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is one of the most invasive and deadly multidrug-resistant organisms (MDROs). Preventing MRSA and surgical site infections (SSIs) remains a crucial patient safety goal.
The purpose of this section is to provide an overview of MRSA, the harms it poses to surgical patients, the sources and pathways of MRSA transmission, and general key concepts for MRSA prevention and SSI more broadly.
